A Long, Strong History

Sherman R. Slavin 1922-2009, a founding partner of our firm, was the only lawyer practicing in the Town of Watertown, Connecticut when he started his practice in 1950. Through the years, he represented many individuals, families, businesses and organizations, and served as the Watertown Town Attorney.

In 1972, with Sherman's practice expanding, he joined with Charles D. Stauffacher to form the firm of Slavin & Stauffacher. The new firm continued to serve the legal needs of its growing clientele in the Litchfield County area. In 2014 Charles D. Stauffacher retired from practice.

In 1994, the firm recruited Robert A. Scott. After practicing for 48 years, Sherman retired and Robert became a partner in the new firm of Slavin, Stauffacher & Scott, L.L.C.

Paul R. Jessell joined the firm in 2001 as a partner, enabling the firm to meet the expanding diverse requirements of its clients. With the increased demand in civil & commercial litigation and personal injury law, Thomas A. Kaelin became associated with the firm as of counsel in 2003.

In 2008 Charles Stauffacher became of counsel and most recently, Dov Braunstein joined the firm as an associate to handle the increasing demand for litigation and commercial real estate matters.

William L. Stevens joined the firm in April 2009 as a partner, bringing 27 years of civil and criminal trial experience to the firm.

Slavin, Stauffacher & Scott, L.L.C., continues to strive for excellence, results, and attentive service for its clientele. We listen to our clients and we care about finding the right solution for each of them.
